Silicon Sundae Meltdown

These are among the more recent of Brad Parent's recordings, the result of recent forays (2005-2006) into home pc recording using various programs. Some of these can now be purchased as part of the Songs from the Void CD.

  • Groove for Carlos - Santana, of course, one of my favorite artists.
  • Katrina Boogie - Not to make light of a real tragedy, but the guitar solo reminded me of a natural disaster of some kind and the rhythm tracks are in somewhat of a New Orleans style. This was done in my first few weeks working at the Entergy distribution center and was inspired largely by the people who work there, all of whom had worked 16-hour days for three months following the devastation  wrought by Katrina. The Katrina Boogie is still being done there on a daily basis, as we ship supplies to storm-affected areas that a year later are still far from being rebuilt.
  • Adagio for Strings in E Minor - For Jack, I think he will like this one. This was done in one take and was completely improvised.
  • Adrenalin - This is for all of you closet techno freaks. Created using MTV Music Generator, none of the riffs are my own, but the way I put them together is.
  • Hypnodelic - Ditto. See Songs from the Void for the updated version with screaming guitars.
  • Document 1 - Still under construction, just a basic rhythm track. More techno. (Update: I've now decided that I like this one just like it is).
  • Jiffy Pop - The first song I created using Cakewalk. Would be better with a real horn section or even a full Big Band, and maybe some guitar too.
