Brad Parent - Solo Recordings:

(Note: these are recordings made on a Fostex four-track at various times from 1987-1993 and as such are low quality recordings. Some attempts have been made to clean them up in the conversion process, but they are still for the most part pretty rough. Feel free to share these recordings with anyone you feel could stand them.)

  • Where She Once Wore Lace Lyrics written by Lee Parent. This ballad, recorded in 1987, was built around a piano track  which incorporated a long prelude to the actual song. As such, the rhythmical problems within the original piano track were preserved.
  • Rantings (Vain and Delirious) Acid-Punk portrait of the artist as a young man. Recorded in late 1988.
  • Wish You Were Here A version of the Pink Floyd classic which Brad made famous on the soccer fields of Victory College and elsewhere in the Maadi-Digla metroplex, as well as at the top of a certain pyramid in Giza and on several feluccas. Immortalized on tape in Jan. 1989.
  • Hesitation Blues Cover of Hot Tuna's acoustic blues version of a classic tune. Recorded in Jan. 1989. Sorry about the tape hiss, but the original recording levels were very low. I just couldn't throw this one away.
  • City Lights Brad says: "This wasn't really written for the soundtrack of an adult movie, but that was my friend Jeff's first impression when he heard it. He should know. Actually, I was going through a period of recording improvisation exercises I made up, and this was one that I added more structure to." Recorded in 1989.
  • Shut Up 'N Play Yer Funk Thang Adult Movie Soundtrack Groove #2. Recorded in 1989.
  • Train Song  Instrumental recorded circa 1990 by David Pinkerton and Brad Parent. Mixes acoustic rock with overdubbed electric and acoustic solos.
  • Where Are We Now? A portrait of the author in a kind of lighthearted Southern rock style. This is the original version written and recorded circa 1992 by Brad Parent featuring very low-quality vocal recording.
  • Where Are We Now (Space Mix) Some unintended effects gained in the remixing give rise to a somewhat more interesting version.
  • Purple Sabbath Instrumental space-metal recorded around 1992 by Brad Parent. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and there are various rock bands who should be flattered by this one.
  • Free Spiritz: This was a four-track recording from about 1989 or 1990 that came out especially good, but it never had any drums. I was pleased to now go back and add a drum track using Cakewalk, and it came out reasonably well, except that the original recording had some tempo problems that occasionally didn't track exactly right with the precision of the drum part. However, in places it comes across well and adds the finishing touch that the original recording really needed.
  • Period of Change Early Version: This is another decent four-track recording from 1990 or so, the second version I did of the song that would eventually become Period of Change when I got together with Mountain of Joy. Back in those days it was a little more of a blues tune and I called it Swamp.

  • Drowning In It: Another four-track recording c. 1990. Dark and moody.
