Period of Change

Life begins and flows out,

and sometimes it seems what it's about

is something that confuses,

abandons and abuses,

and even loses you entirely.

But life is more than days on end,

it flowers from within, in the place

where all your love and secrets hide,

and it's up to you to look inside and find it.

From myself there's little I can give,

except these spoken words of mine;

a simple rhythm and a rhyme;

not much else, in truth, do I have to offer you.

But if it helps let's talk of changes,

of friends that you once knew;

and from what you learned you grew,

but still don't understand the place you stand in.

I'd say don't fear the changes and the days

that seem to circle and surround you.

Don't believe that when they've finally found you

you must be on your way.

Because life is just a period of changes,

and these changes are the signposts on the road

to your final destination, for the flower rooted deep inside

must have room to grow.

And finally this I will impart:

please believe I mean it from the heart;

these changes will not break you;

You must know somewhere inside it's true.
