Chris and Steve Parker

This is the “Half the City” flier for the gig at Agami Palace which the band did about a month before the “2nd Floor Band” gig. (April 1979) The Agami Palace management had hundreds of these done up and had a bunch of shweya walids giving these to people all over Alexandria and the beaches that weekend.

“Half the City” was:

Cody Wilson – Guitar

Kari Amin – Guitar

Chris Parker – Guitar, Vocal

George Koenig – Keyboards

Charles McClure – Drums

Ward Hall - Bass (I think, sez Brad)

If anyone knows the whereabouts of any recordings or pictures of this gig, or has a clearer memory of the exact lineup of the band, please contact Brad.

Recordings:

Chris writes: All of my recordings are either poor to moderate quality (one mic) live or scratch studio recordings . . . in other words nothing is polished or finished to any degree.  All feature Chris or Steve on Guitars, Vocals, Keyboards, and occasionally Bass.

  • Fantastic Porridge (Funky) This song was written in the mid-1990s – the band was known as Mister 2 (named after the drummer’s cat – of course we rehearsed at the drummers house – disbanded in 1998). Lineup: Chris Parker (Guitars), Steve Parker (Guitars), Claude “Bass”ingthwaite (Bass), Don Keister (Drums).
  • Moon Zenith written by Steve Parker, Claude Bassingthwaite & Chris Parker (March 1998). This version was recorded in 2003 at M.A.D. Studios in San Pablo Beach , FL .  Lineup: Steve Parker (Guitar), Chris Parker (Bass & Keyboards), Mark Degoursey (Drums). Original title changed by the author for public consumption.
  • Lemming Train This version was done at MAD Studios in San Pablo Beach, FL in December 2002 (Mark Degoursey, engineer) – Mike Danhour did the Vocals, Steve Parker on Bass, Mark Degoursey on Drums, and Chris Parker on Guitar.  Chris writes: "This version is the only one I have (studio version that is) but, I used to have a more advanced version of it (which I gave away blah blah blah -- ) - the later version had some kicking Hammond style keyboards on it (if I do say so myself), plus better (fixed) solo breaks and a more subdued vocals mix. I don’t think any further mix-down was done on this recording from the original recording. Mike did the vocals pretty much the first time through with out hardly any rehearsal he kind of hit on what I was looking for but it was very crude." Brad writes: "Lemming Train Rocks!!!" Check out the lyrics.
  • Goldmine  Words and music written by J. Chris Parker (1996) – recorded at MAD Studios Jacksonville FL 1998 (Mark Degoursey, Engineer).  Steve Parker (guitar), Chris Parker (guitars, vocals), Brooks Huey (bass), Mark Degoursey (drums). Click here to read the lyrics.
  • Bumper to Bumper  Written by Claude Bassingthwaite, Don Keister, J. Chris Parker, and Steve Parker – June 1997.  I think recording may cut off briefly but . . . alas it’s a good tune – worth it.
